LV & HV Motors & Generator Repair

As at the end of 2008, more than 320 motors with capacities ranging from 250 to 3350 kW and 30 generators with capacities up to 6500 kVA and voltages up to 10.5 kV had been repaired here. AC, DC, flame-proof and Ex-proof motors and generators undergo complete refurbishment to their original capacity and degree of protection. SC has the capability of repairing motors with capacities up to 5 MW, and generators up to 28 MVA.

• Startor Repair

  Mechanical, electrical inspection and repairs are conducted on the body, side covers, magnetic circuit, slots and coils. New coils are embedded, reconnected, insulated and banded. Cooling system, pipes and connection boxes are inspected, cleaned and replaced if needed, mechanical seals and gaskets inspected and repaired or replaced to maintain the protection class of the machine. Ex-proof protection is maintained in cooperation with specialized laboratories to ensure the degree of protection and sealing.

• Rotor Repair

  Rotors for capacities up to 28 MW could be repaired here. Rotors are inspected for mechanical damages, shaft deflection and unbalance; slip rings, shunt rings, magnetic circuits and brush holders are repaired/replaced; retaining rings and cooling fans inspected and NDT tested for cracks or distortion.
  Also bearings are maintained and replaced in case of damage, wound rotors rewound; squirrel cage bars are disassembled and replaced by new ones and welded to the connecting rings; the axle is accurately examined and maintained and replaced if necessary. The rotor is finally thermally cured and dynamically- balanced. The mechanical and electrical workshops apply these procedures according to international codes.
